Who Are We?

What are you doing here?
We have a real site as of 3-3-2012!
Trust us, it looks and feels better there!
MCDen @ Mine-Craft-Den.com

Other than just another random creative and survival server, we aim to do things differently than other servers dare: Allow and Do more than those pesky instructions say.

Join us on our server either by the game itself, or in Dynmap. We are running MineCraft 1.4.7 with Craftbukkit/Spigot and Spout. Spout Craft is Optional, But Preferred.

This weekend, updates!

With the release of Borderland 2, many of us has been fairly inactive. We are still responding to requests and help as we receive them via /mail, /calladmin, and by email and on our site.
We will be changing up our new member setup soon. I will be going on the road to take my g/f home for the weekend. While she's at her arts and crafts festival, I'll be on my laptop tinkering on the server. Many plugin updates along with changing up a few minor things in the steps between first joining to being a full member. I know a lot of new members will like the new feature soon.
I do plan to add a new filter for those complaining that they can't play instantly. Sorry, if you can't read 5 small rules and prove you actually read them, then we won't accept you. It takes you 5, maybe 10 minutes from join to full member. Would you rather we go full whitelist and wait for someone to accept you by what you typed out in paragraphs? We'd rather stay grey list mode and let most of the setup is automated. Server staff will still have the final stay if you can be on the server as we are now.

In other news, have you been reading the news feed on minecraftforums.net ? MC 1.4 is planned for halloween with a new hostile villager, a witch, just imagine what it does. From there, many other bug fixes and bats. Do these fly? I believe so!

Where'd everyone go?

As most everyone knows, our server has always lacked a fair sized active community. Some people will pass the test and stay, for a while, many will pop on and leave. I know some people will stay until we hit a day where the server does not cooperate with me. A lot of random issues are out of my hand until I can figure out why and fix it. I try to show some of the higher staff how to manage the server when I'm away, such as work or class, but I can't show everything until something goes haywire. I have been thinking of, still not sure if I want to or not, bring in a couple more server experienced players to help keep someone on the server and accept passed players as full members.

Either that, or make a change to the last question, not take it away, but not mention it will be asked; change the tag from 'passed' to a light blue 'm' while the full member is a dark 'm'. When a server staff sees a player with a light 'm' they will be asked. This way, any and all players who join and pass the test think they passed and be more willing to stay. I also plan to set the command ran for those who are not old enough to send a 0 rating comment to glizer stating their said age and cannot read and follow rules. This may sound a little harsh, but if people cannot read 5 small rules before agreeing, really need a reality check. I will also be doing something similar with mcbans. I'm still looking into this without the player actually being banned, unless they cause a temper-tantrum.

Lastly, where has some the more active staff? Err... Let's just say we're stuck on the Borderlands outside of Minecraft for a while.

Please remember, if there is any issues, send us a /calladmin (description) ingame and either Riky_516 or I will reply as soon as we can when we see it. As for those who do not know, it sends us a message on our iDevices. That would be my iPad, which I don't use very often, but my g/f usually tells me, or Riky's iPhone, which he usually responds fairly fast. We will also get a /mail message ingame for easy lookup.

As just a thought to add in here...
Many players have asked what can they do, or what's the goal. We don't have any real goal. I like the idea of a player to join and do pretty much what ever they want with little restrictions. I have had the idea of two nations at war. Now I've been thinking of three simple nations who at which can go at war with one another if they wish. One of each: Money based, Resource based, or full out War based. Kinda like the three things you can do in Eve Online, World of Warcraft, etc. Quests? Personally, even if I had the interest, I don't have the time with college, work and what little social time I've got between the two. If we do add a optional quest system, I'll leave that to someone who can do this much better than I can.

Minecart Mania Offline, World To World Climbing/Falling

I would like to put this small notification out to the viewers:
If you are not here about our MineCraft Game Server, then please, do not complain about not a lot of detail about the posts if they do not pertain to you. This Blog is a simple news system I use for the users who do not use FaceBook or do not wish to join our FaceBook group.

Minecart Mania works, just one small issue I do not like. It overrides the Powered Rails. Simply put, if you use the Powered Rail normally, they would stop your cart when powered, and not boost either powered or unpowered. I'm tinkering with the config, but I might as well ask the author instead. I've figured it out in the past, I don't recall how to now.

I have been recently working on setting up a way for players who climb too high, or fall too low, will be teleported to the next world. Falling: The_End > Skylands > OverWorld > Nether is currently setup. The other way around, climbing, currently does not work. There is many plugins on doing all this, I first attempted Inception, and it's far too complicated in what I need. I just need a simple plugin that I can set up which world is above the other and when a player reaches Y coordinate, they teleport to the next world. We are currently using ForeverFalling, though all it manages is falling. I'm keeping an eye out for a different one. The plugin we used to use on one of our previous world systems was v10verlap, which the other dumped and made Inception. It works when going too low, but the height part seems tricky.

In other news, there seems to be some bugs with MCJobs. When ever someone edits or joins, the server log is spammed with error about moving this or that event to MCJobs. As far as I know, everyone is being paid. If I am wrong on this, tell me. I don't get many /calladmin or /mail notices about issues.

Minecart Mania Has Returned!

As many veteran players on the server recall, we used to have MineCartMania last year. A new author has returned taken the challenge of bringing back the famous plugin. Sure there is TrainCarts, but some of us liked how MineCartMania simpleness worked.

I am going to make a few features limited. AutoFarming will be limited to Server Staff Creation, while still leaving it to Members to run them when stock starts to run slow. This is due to past experiences of many and/or large complex farms causing lagg out the whazoo.

The plugins are currently installed. Untested and no permissions are set. I will be working on this after my last class today. IF I can't access the server properly from my apartment, and a few calls to my ISP, I will have to rely on everyone to test ingame. If it comes down to it, I'll have to think of tethering my 3G phone to my computer network...

Updates and Fixes

As we all know, after the update to MC 1.3.2, many things went on vacation on the server, along with player activity. As no one can log into any server as the login servers are Mojang has gone wonky, I did some back end work while I could. I updated MCJobs that came out today and had to redo some of the configs. I'm sure I over looked some jobs in the Show Every Time part. So if you join a job that spams your chat about doing part of your job, let me know. I also had to clear out everyone's data files for MCJobs. Everyone will have to rejoin their jobs. All updates to MCJobs can be found on their page here.

I've added a side panel to the right of the blog here so others can see dynmap. I still need to fix a few things on dynmap for the side, but so far, looks good. Need to fix the button at the bottom left along with global warps showing by default.

Stats, as linked in the Navigation bar above, is acting a little odd. Either it's not tracking everything, or the data isn't being sent to the database correctly.
