Who Are We?

What are you doing here?
We have a real site as of 3-3-2012!
Trust us, it looks and feels better there!
MCDen @ Mine-Craft-Den.com

Other than just another random creative and survival server, we aim to do things differently than other servers dare: Allow and Do more than those pesky instructions say.

Join us on our server either by the game itself, or in Dynmap. We are running MineCraft 1.4.7 with Craftbukkit/Spigot and Spout. Spout Craft is Optional, But Preferred.

Server Offline Issues

As most members on the server know, we have our server hosted for us.
I would love to host the server myself, but living in the dorms with limited internet speeds during Fall and Spring semesters, it would by much laggier than anyone has experienced, except for today.

There has been many, and by that I mean 3 or more, MC servers on HGS that are using a lot of CPU at once. Due to that, we are affected. The server will lagg from CPU hogging. Until HGS or the server owners catch that, we will experience high amounts of lagg.

I will be monitoring the server closely. Any small info tidbits I find out I will post on twitter. I will later make a new post of what all I've found out.

Edit:
I do plan on making my own webserver to host a larger, more efficient. I'm saving up some money to make a computer, nothing beefy other than CPU and RAM, along with a decent SSD for storage, with linux.

Update:
Looking at CPU cores on the hardware server (the machine hosting our and many other MC servers). Many servers are still using all cores at 100%. No response from HGS. While working on a computer design project for a family member, I'm basing our new server hardware on theirs.

Update2:
HGS has acknowledged  the issues and still working on it, though it's on all their servers at this time.
Personally, I'd have all the high CPU MC server temporarily shut down to be sure they are the main cause of the high CPU usage. But it's up to them. Until then, I have the plans for my own MC server to build. Will be a couple to 3 weeks before I can order the parts, at the soonest.
No really going fancy, just a good CPU, good amount of RAM, and going raid on 4 hard drives. Still tweaking the spechs, but looking forward to the build. No dedicated video card, not even a cd drive for now. Installing the OS via jumpdrive instead.

Skylands, Adventure worlds, New 'Off World'

As MC releases it's new update snapshots, I've been having all these random ideas for the server. Many of which may be useless, unneeded, or just funny.
I have come up with a few ideas that I would like to add, some of which I'm tinkering with right now.

I am currently installing a SkyLands plugin, dedicated to making Real Skylands. Would use TerrainControl, but I've currently found some bugs with it on MetaVerse. I'll explain later.

I have been tinkering with Multiverse's Adventure Plugin. It basically makes Instances of selected worlds. When a player enters said world, MVA keeps a template copy of the world, let's the player play through, making all the changes they want, then when the last player leaves and a set time passes, the world is reverted back tot he original. MVA is still in Alpha, so there is still a few bugs. I have added ShrinkCraft, featured on MineCraftForums.net and it plays through just fine, except the last chapter requires a Nether world. I have not attempted to fix this as of yet as I don't have any form of way yet. I have an idea, and JollyGG may be able to help. Thinking of him, he has made a quick video of us playing the Adventure world, for a test run and laughs. We didn't play it 100% legitly (as it was around midnight when we got half way through and some patience was worn through).

As the new MC updates have made changes, and the TerrainControl plugin didn't generate a few things for us in MetaVerse, I figured a "Off World" that is Regenerated ever time MC releases an update Publicly. Why? In the last set of Snapshots, They have added a new ore/item and temples for the Desert and Jungles. TerrainControl, how ever, did not generate any Mineshafts or Strongholds. I haven't even seen any Villages.

I plan to make all world and Adventure portals in the Base level of the Space Saucer at MCDen Central.
