This launcher is faster, but currently some draw backs. To start the client, you have to go old school and use a .bat file. It's simple to set up. Back in the day, they kept things simple and small.
Note: This guide is based on a Win7 64bit desktop computer and a Win7 32bit laptop. Comment if this guide did not follow your setup exactly. If you found a way around to have it work, please state and I will add it with credit.
- Download the SpoutCraft Snapshot file from the top/main post of the thread linked at the top of this post.
Save .jar to the desktop.
- Right click on the desktop > New > Text Document. Not rich text document. You want a notepad file text document.
- When it makes the file on the desktop, it should have the name of: New Text Document.txt . Rename it to something like SpoutCraft Launcher.bat. Remember to have .bat, not .txt at the end.
- Note: It is suggested, for this guide, have the .jar and .bat files in the same area. As in both on the desktop, or same folder.
IF the .txt is not at the end when you first create the text document, do the following:
- Open a folder screen. Ex: Open My Documents
- Go to the top of the window and click Tools > Folder Options. May have to hit the ALT key on the keyboard to show menu for File, Edit, View, etc..
- Click the View tab at the top, scroll down and uncheck the box next to "Hide extensions to known file types".
- Click Ok. Now all files will have a dot extension.
- Windows 32bit users:
- Copy and paste this into the window: "%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -jar spoutcraft-launcher.jar
- Change the spoutcraft-launcher.jar part to the name of the .jar you saved to your desktop.
- Windows 64bit users:
- Copy and paste this into the window: "%ProgramFiles(86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -jar spoutcraft-launcher.jar
- Change the spoutcraft-launcher.jar part to the name of the .jar you saved to your desktop.
Note: There is now Option button to choose any options. More information on this is on the forum post.
